How to set items to a collection “Exclusive”
Learn how to create exclusive product collections that don’t appear in search results or other parts of your site—perfect for private drops, outlet pages, or early access releases.
Use case 1:
You intend to make an exclusive drop or an Outlet page on your website and you don’t want any of the products in this specific collection to be displayed anywhere else on the site, i.e search fields, product carousels etc.
Use case 2:
You want to build a drop and don’t want to push it live straight away: you can set this collection as Listed and available Online but with exclusive tags so it won’t show on the site.
Perhaps you want to share this exclusive drop with your most valuable customers only? You can share the collection URL with them.
How to make a collection "exclusive":
Step 1. Create the exclusive collection and remember collectionID
- Create a collection as usual
- Give the collection a user friendly collection ID such “womens-outlet”
- Scroll down to Details: “Make collection exclusive? Mark as “Yes” > Save
- Scroll down to Products: Add Conditions and filter down the products you want to have exclusively to this collection.
- Click “Apply” > Save
Step 2. Select products to the collection by adding tags
- Go to “All Products” tab
- Filter down to the products you want to have in the exclusive collection, i.e by category or by tags.
- Once done with the filtering click “Select All”
- Click “Actions” > “Add Tags”
Step 3. Add 2 tags
- Add first tag “exclusive”
- Add second tag “exclusive-to-collectionID” (i.e if your collection ID in step 1 was “womens-outlet”; add the tag “exclusive-to-womens-outlet”
- Click Submit button.
Step 4. Add tags to more products categories
- Repeat step 2-3 if you want to add tag to other product segments
Step 5. Show products on site
- Make sure the products still have the availableOnline tag and status: Listed in order to be visible online.
If you remove the “exclusive” tag and “exclusive-to-collectionID” tag the product will no longer be exclusive to the collection and will instead show throughout the site
Step 6. Want the products to show on more than one collection?
- If you want your products to show on more exclusive collections. Such “Womens Outlet” collection but also “Womens Knitwear Outlet” collection, Add more ”exclusive-to-collectionID” tags to the specific products. (i.e “exclusive-to-womens-knitwear-outlet”, “exclusive-to-womens-outlet”, “exclusive”)
Summary:
Now you have created a collection, added conditions to the collection and filtered down products to be displayed in collection.
After you’ve bulk edited these products and set a tag “exclusive” and “exclusive-to-collectionID”.
The products that have exclusive tag won’t show on any other pages/collections, and the “exclusive-to-XXX” tag is being checked to match with the collection ID in order to show up on that specific collection only.
